I long for the tropical wilderness near my childhood home in Santa Clara, Cuba. In this series ‘La Gran Ola’, a collection of 21 framed reliefs, my work depicts the beautiful and powerful movement of the waves on Cuba’s north coast in relation to its natural habitat. I can vividly recall watching the waves crash on the beach and they still take my breath away today.
Borrowing motifs from Cuban and Spanish culture, each composition plays with texture and depth. This series tackles my fascination with the resilience of nature and life, capturing its natural power and movement further emphasizing my belief that we are stronger than we can imagine.
